Pyorrhoea causes
  • The first and foremost step to control pyorrhoea is to maintain good oral hygiene. Food particles trapped between teeth often cause bacteria to grow and aggravate pyorrhoea. Brush and floss regularly and gargle after you eat or drink any time during the day.
  • Avoid milk and milk products, as they promote bacteria. Also, avoid smoking and chewing tobacco. Spicy foods irritate the gums and aggravate the problem; avoid them too.
  • Guava is a rich source of vitamin C, and the best remedy for pyorrhoea. Cut a guava, sprinkle a pinch of salt over it, and eat.
  • Make a soup of spinach and carrot (taken in equal quantities), and have a bowl of this soup, every day; this will take care of your oral hygiene.
  • Take some lemon juice on your fingertip, and gently massage it over your gums. You may experience a burning sensation in the beginning, but it will die down soon. This helps to improve the condition.
  • Gargle with sesame oil, every day. Fill your mouth with sesame oil and hold it there. Gargle and swish the oil inside your mouth for a few seconds and then spit. Sesame oil will soothe your gums and help to stop the bleeding.
  • Make a paste by adding 200 ml castor oil, 5 gm camphor, and 100ml honey. Dip a twig of neem into this paste, and rub it over your teeth. Practice this remedy on a daily basis for best results.
  • Massaging your gums with mustard oil can also be a good remedy for pyorrhoea. Add a pinch of salt to a spoonful of mustard oil before you gently massage with your finger. If there is too much pain in the gums, use ear buds dipped into the mixture to gently apply the oil.
